The EU has transfered a direct payment of over EUR 11.5 million to the state budget of Ukraine, reported by press service of the EU Delegation of Ukraine. In total, the EU has assigned EUR 90 million for 2016-2021 budget support for public administration reform. 

The funds are aimed to support the further development of public administration in Ukraine, notably to boost its performance and resilience amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. 

 “Now more than ever, it is important to ensure respect for the core principles of public governance, accountability and transparency in order to nurture the confidence of citizens and business in state institutions and thus help faster recovery from the severe health and economic crises,” said Ambassador Matti Maasikas, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine.

The remaining tranche of EUR 26 million planned for 2021 will be provided on condition of the continued strong government commitment to the OECD/SIGMA Principles of Public Administration, the implementation and renewal of the PAR strategy based on a sound Civil Service Law and the adoption of the Law on the General Administrative Procedures.
