The 5th Steering Committee Meeting of the Twinning project for the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine was held

On September 22, 2021, the 5th Steering Committee meeting (SCM) for the Twinning Project for the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) «Support to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine in further approximation of legal, procedural and case enforcement practices with EU antitrust and merger control practices», hereinafter “Project”, which is being implemented jointly by a consortium of EU Member States, namely Lithuania, Germany and Romania was held.

The overall objective of the Twinning project is to increase effectiveness, transparency and consistency of the competition policy in Ukraine on the basis of closer alignment with the EU competition framework, as required by AA/DCFTA.

The Project Steering Committee was attended by the Project Leaders, Resident Twinning Adviser and his counterpart, as well as other Project participants from EU MSs and the Beneficiary Administration. The representatives from Twinning Administrative Office (PAO) and the EU Delegation to Ukraine also took part in the event.

Since the Project is less than a year away from its completion (termination date for the Twinning Contract for this Project is May 25, 2022), the Twinning project team discussed the main objectives left to be achieved as per components and the risks of their non-fulfillment within the specified deadline.

During the 5th SCM, the Q5 Report was approved covering the dates from May 25, 2021 till August 24, 2021, as well as the Rolling work plan for Q6 and Q7 covering the period from August 25, 2021 till February 24, 2021.

The next meeting of the Steering Committee for this Project is scheduled for December 17, 2021.
